The Pet Food List

Posted on 26th October 2008 in Pets

Since 2007 I’ve learned that dog and cat food is not always safe. Sadly due to some contamination a few pets died from eating unsafe food. I’m saddened for the pet families and the pets themselves. However, I’m glad that it out in the open now. I had no idea. I thought that pet food companies were benevolent and would never use cheep, questionable ingredients. Such is not the case. In the next few years I’m sure that will change. There will be more regulations, better, safer standards for the foods for our four legged companions.
At one of my favorite blogs I was going through the links on that page at Raise a Green Dog and found a link for The Pet Food List. I’ve gone through this and found that many of the foods I’ve introduced into my dog and cat’s diets are on the safe list! Yay! Check yours against it and keep your babies safe!

A search for a healthy organic pet food

Posted on 7th October 2008 in Organic, Pets

I’m always on the look out for good healthy food. For a good part of last year and early this year money was tight and we all suffered eating cheaply. I have slowly been changing that for all of us, Rick, me, Xiann and Milo.
I did a search for organic dog food made or carried locally. I found MudBay a company started by a family started in Washington State. According to their site they carry only high quality food without unnecessary ingredients.
Milo has come close to the end of his bag of food so I’ll be heading out in a day or so to check out the store. One of the great things is there are many locations around the greater Seattle area! There is even one just down the road from our apartment in Bothell.
I’ll let you all know what I find. I’m going to do some further research about the brands that they carry and pick a couple to try for my babies. We get variety in our diet, if done carefully; it’s only fair that I do it for them.
